WHY DELPHI
I have always had a passion for ancient history and the lessons that can be relearned from those times, and that is where the inspiration for Delphi Accounting has come from.
The Delphi Oracle is an ancient Greek temple that was a beacon of advice to world rulers and everyday people spanning some 1200 years (between 8th Century BC to the 4th Century AD), and for the Greeks they considered Delphi, and particularly the temple of Apollo (who is said to be the first initiate), to be the centre of the world.
With a significant presence in the Greek world, the Oracle (or Pythia) was consulted before major undertakings with individuals, city states and foreign authorities - and during the height of its influence rulers would seek advice before launching wars or founding new Greek colonies. Evidence suggests that King Leonidas of Sparta and Alexander the Great consulted the Oracle, and the Greeks believed that it accurately predicted the Argonaut’s expedition and the Trojan War.
Over the entrance to the temple was a famous inscription ‘Know Thyself’ and that is what we aim to assist you with, shining a light into all the corners of the business so you can see how healthy your business is, helping you to get clearer on what is happening so you can make the right decisions.
Its also interesting to note that for many it was not all about the final advice that was given by the Oracle, but that the ancient pilgrims were aware that the journey to the Oracle was in itself a transformative and life changing experience, and that this process was very much a part of aligning with the advice given. It was said that the purification or clarity of both the Oracle and the pilgrim showed the commitment of both parties to see things more clearly.
